The International Society for Hypnosis Certification (ISFHC) was established in 2009 to recognize the combined power of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnosis for effecting change in oneself and others. Classically trained hypnotists focus on hypnotic induction and suggestion to access and change unconscious patterns. NLP, with roots in hypnosis, linguistics, systems theory and other disciplines, provides a framework for understanding how change occurs and offers a powerful set of communication tools that broaden and deepen the hypnotist’s skill and ability to access and change unconscious processes. NLP trained hypnotists generally get better results because NLP offers a more well-rounded skill set and much greater overall precision when using hypnosis.

ISFHC sets rigorous standards that ensure certified practitioners have behavioral competence necessary to provide effective hypnotherapy services. These standards derive from the precise and agreed linguistic and behavioral distinctions in the field of NLP that allow independent verification of skills from different examiners. The standards also originate from the field of hypnotherapy to ensure the practitioner follows established protocols and ethical guidelines when working with others.

The mission of ISFHC is to:

  • Recognize the combined power of NLP and hypnosis
  • Set standards to ensure certified practitioners have the necessary skills to provide hypnosis services
  • Provide a professional community for individuals trained in NLP and hypnosis
